Machine production has a special importance in the manufacturing industry. In the development process of countries, the share of the machinery manufacturing industry within the manufacturing industry is increasing.
Although the sector maintains its labor-intensive character, this structure shows similar characteristics in developed countries. Except for very few machine types, serial manufacturing techniques are not applied in this sector. In recent years, it can be said that there is a trend towards machine manufacturing in line with customer demands in the world.
These demands, which require additional engineering work, cause prices to increase in western countries. The share of the machinery manufacturing industry in the total manufacturing industry is 4.7 percent. The information collected by 185 Machinery Companies Association (MIB) from 185 companies shows that the average employment of the companies in this group is 53 people. If the same value is generalized, it is estimated that 180,000-200,000 people are employed in companies other than those who manufacture workshop-type manufacturing and / or work as a sub-industry or manufacture parts for the renovation market.
Considering these small companies, total employment is calculated as 500,000 people. This figure does not include the employment of mold manufacturers and companies that manufacture hydraulic, pneumatic and electric-electronic components for machines.
